Title: Application of Pseudo-Equivalent Potential Temperature in the Analysis of the "July 21" Rainstorm in the Yellow River
Abstract: Adopting the NCEP/NCAR six-hour reanalysis data, routine meteorological observation data and hydrological station precipitation data, this paper analyzed the pseudo-equivalent potential temperature of a rainstorm happened on July 20-21 of 2012 in the middle Yellow River. The results show that the changes of pseudo-equivalent potential temperature reflect the activities of cold and warm air in the rainstorm process, and the rainstorm area is at or near the high value area of 850 hPa pseudo-equivalent potential temperature;the shift and variation trend of the high value center of pseudo-equivalent potential temperature closely relate to the falling area and development stages of the rainstorm, which can be used as an index for rainstorm forecast.
