Title: A Quantitative and Qualitative Study of English Vocabulary Acquisition by Chinese Non-English Majors
Abstract: Researches into the English language acquisition show English vocabulary can be classified into cognitive vocabulary,flexible vocabulary and core vocabulary. The knowledge in understanding cognitive vocabulary reflects thequantityin vocabulary acquisition,while the grasp of the flexible vocabulary reflects the quality in it. At present,there exist some problems in the quality in vocabulary acquisition in English teaching. The standard of qualitycannot be neglected in enlarging thequantity in vocabulary.
