Title: Feasibility of Amniotic Fluid Stem Cells for Therapy of Bone Diseases
Abstract: Cell-based therapies can bring new hope for treatment of intractable bone diseases, such as fracture nonunion, metabolic bone diseases and so on.Due to the abilities of self-renewal and multipotent potential capacity, stem cells are ideal seed cells for cell-based therapies. However, usual stem cells like embryonic stem cells or bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells can not be used to treat clinical bone dieseases effectively, because of their characteristics including tumorigenicity or limited differentiational capacity. To our delight, amniotic fluid stem cells are easy to get, have strong capacities of differentiation and proliferation, can be gene-modified easily. Therefore, amniotic fluid stem cells are ideal seed cells for therapy of intractable bone diseases. In this paper,we will explore advantages of amniotic fluid stem cells and the feasibility of using these cells for therapy of intractable bone diseases.
