Title: LS-DYNA-Based Process Simulation for Cylindrical Projectile Penetrating Thin Steel Plate
Abstract: Based on penetration of steel plate by fragment simulated projectile,an analysis of finite element(FE)by using ANSYS LS-DYNA has been performed to investigate the penetration process and the failure mode of steel armor,the penetration velocity of fragment simulated projectiles(FSP),and the simulation results were compared with those of the theory.Results show that the target damage mode in the FE analysis is in good agreement with the theory observed.The FE analysis also shows that with properly created model,the penetration process,penetration properties of steel plate by FSP and target damage mode can be simulated very well by using FE method.
