Title: Optimization of Extraction Process for Tea Saponin from Camellia oleifera Seed Meal with n-Propanol
Abstract: n-Propanol was used to extract tea saponin from oil tea(Camellia oleifera Abel.) seed meal.Operating parameters that influence extraction efficiency such as raw material particle size,n-propanol concentration,solid-to-solvent ratio, time, temperature and solvent pH were investigated by one-factor-at-a-time method and optimized using an orthogonal array design. The optimum extraction conditions for maximum yield of tea saponin were found to be 60 mesh,80%,1:12(g/mL),80℃and 3 h for raw material particle size,n-propanol concentration, temperature and time, respectively, and the yield and purity of tea saponin obtained under these conditions were 20.13%and 62.78%,respectively.The optimum extraction conditions for maximum purity of tea saponin were found to be 40 mesh,90%,1:11(g/mL),80℃and 3 h for raw material particle size,n-propanol concentration, temperature and time, respectively, and the yield and purity of tea saponin obtained under these conditions were 15.31%and 72.06%,respectively. However, lower yield and purity of tea saponin were obtained by the traditional ethanol extraction method.
