Title: Sample survey of the caries and periodontal disease in the elderly nursing staff
Abstract: Objective To investigate the oral health status and research incidence of caries and periodontal disease in the elderly nursing staff. Methods Based on oral health survey methods set down by World Health Organization and third national oral health survey standard,we made an survey of oral diseases among 1326 samples from Gulangyu sanatorium. Results Among the samples,the caries rate was 67. 9% ,gingival bleeding rate was 47. 4% ,periodontal pocket rate was 32. 1% and periodontal attachment lose rate was 16. 9% . The attack rate of the above diseases among samples from 56 to 60 years old was lower than that of the samples who were older than 65. Conclusion Although the elderly nursing staff have good oral health knowledge,they have poor oral health status,higher attack rate of caries and bad gum condition. Proper measures should be taken to improve the oral health status of the elderly nursing staff so as to control the oral diseases.
