Title: From "Vernacular Subject" to "Rural Subject"──A Genetic Study of the Dominant Literary Subjects in Modern Chinese Literature
Abstract: Literary subject not simply classifies life materials that has described, it is a historical outcome of literary development and variation. Literary subject is not only the object of literary history research, but also becomes a special category of literary history, when some sorts of subjects are named, interpreted repeatedly and given special meanings. Because of this, vernacular subject literature and rural subject fiction should be regarded as two categories of literary history instead of being accepted as a fait accompli. The thesis studies them from a genetic perspective, trying to find out the shaping and usage of them and the ideology motives behind them, so as to obtain some genetic information of modern Chinese literature.
