Title: The correlation between carotid atherosclerosis and coronary artery, renal atherosclerosis
Abstract: Objective To investigate the correlation between carotid atherosclerosis and coronary artery, renal atherosclerosis. Methods One hundred and twenty- nine patients were examined by coronary arteriongraphy, then examined immediately by renal arteriography and carotid artery ultrasound, and the clinical data and arteriography results were recorded to carry out carotid atherosclerosis scoring. Results Among 129 patients, there were 81 cases of coronary heart disease( 62.8%),68 cases of renal artery stenosis( 52. 7%). The more severe the carotid atherosclerosis, the more blood vessel number of coronary artery pathological change; the higher the incidence of artery stenosis, the more severe the stenosis degree. The stenosis degree of coronary artery was positively correlated to patient's age, history of hypertension, hyperlipemia, blood sugar, carotid atherosclerosis scoring, however, which was negatively correlated to high density lipoprotein( HDL). The stenosis degree of renal artery was positively correlated to patient's age, history of hypertension, hyperlipemia, smoking history, creatinine, carotid atherosclerosis scoring and stenosis degree of coronary artery however, which was negatively correlated to HDL. Conclusion The carotid atherosclerosis index is related with pathological change degree of coronary artery, and carotid atherosclerosis and coronary artery, renal atherosclerosis have congenerous risk factors. So carotid atherosclerosis scoring can be regarded as predictive factor for coronary atherosclerosis.
