Twenty six species and subspecies belonging to 10 genera, 7 families and 2 orders were obtained: 4 old provincial records, 17 new provincial records, 2 new Sctttiger tadpoles with their metamorphosis nearly complete (Liu Hu, 1960) and 3 new species. In this paper descriptions are given to the 3 new species with adult specimens and in the English abstract only the diagnoses of the new species are provided. The results of the present investigation are quite remarkable. Although Bejie (毕节) and Weining (威宁) are so near to each other yet the amphibian fauna of these two areas are quite different from each other (table 1). Fourteen species of amphibians are found in Bejie, out of which 9 widely-distributed species, i.e., Bufo bufo gar-garizans, Rana limnocharis, Rana nigromaculata, Rana japomca japonica, Rana guentheri, Rhacophoms leucomystax and 3 species of Microhyla have not been obtained from Weining. In the Weining area Bufo bufo andrewsi, Rana pleuraden and Rana japonica chaochiaoensis take the place of B. b. gargarizaas, Rana nigroniaculata and R. j. japonica fespectively. The amphibian fauna of Bejie is similar to that of the southern Szechwan, whtle for Weining it is closely related to that of the northern Yunnan.Cynops cyanuras sp. nov.Type: No. 591200, adult male; type locality: De-wu, Shui-cheng, altitude 1,790 meters; June 19, 1959. Diagnosis: A distinct new species of Cynaps, different from Cynops orientalis (David) by having a distinct vertebral ridge, skin rather rough with many small granules, constantly with an orange red spot near the posterior-dorsal side of the corner of the mouth and with distinct outer metacarpal and metatarsal tubercles. All males with a bluish tail and marbled with black spots.Rana weiningensis sp. nov.Type: No. 590455, adult male; type locality: Tuo-luo-he of Long-chu, Weining, altitude 1,700 meters, Kweichow; June 8, 1959.Diagnosis; A distinct new species similar to Rana variant Boulengcr in body form and coloration but differing from the latter in being much smaller in size. The tadpole with 5 rows of lower labial teeth, which arc only found in this new species among all the Rana species heretofore recorded from China.Rhacophorus nigropunctatus sp. nov.Type; No. 590405, adult male; type locality: Long-chu, Weining, altitude 2,134 meters; June 8, 1959.Diagnosis: A distinct new species of Rhacophorus related to Rhacophorus schlegelii dorsoviridis Bourret. The males of this new species having a conspicuous subgular external vocal sac, and only about 1/4 web between the 3rd and 4th fingers, while those of R. schlegelii and all its subspecies not having any vocal sac, and the web between the 3rd and the 4th fingers being much better developed.Read More
