Title: Effect of Lead Stress on Seed Germination and Seedling Growth of Phaseolus angularis
Abstract: [Objective] To study the effects of Pb2+ stress on the germination of seeds and seedlings growth of Phaseolus angularis.[Method] With Phaseolus angularis as the study materials, the effects of different Pb2+ concentrations on the germination of seeds and growth of seedlings were studied.[Result] When Pb2+concentration was lower than 200 mg/L,it could promote the germination rate, germination vigor, germination index and vigor index of seeds. However, high lead concentration had obvious inhibitory effects on the germination of seeds. With the increase of Pb2+ concentration, the root length, seedling length, root weight and the content of plant chlorophyll were decreased. There was stronger inhibition on the growth of root than that of bud under high Pb2+ concentration.[Conclusion] Low Pb2+ concentration could promote seed germination, but the growth of seedlings was inhibited by Pb2+.
