BMD was measured by single energy X ray (SXA).Results:Significant decrease of BMD was found between male groups (60 years) and female groups (50 years),P0.05 and P0.01 respectively. Among each age group, male's BMD was higher than female's significantly. Conclusion:An acceleration of bone mineral loss was predominantly shown in postmenopausal women, more significant than men of the same age. It is indicated that osteoporosis appeared mainly in postmenopause women and estrogen may play a most important role in maintaining bone mineral density. SXA examined heel bone which comprises 95% trabeculae and could well determine the risk of osteoporosis. Furthermore, it was cheaper, more convenient, quicker and preciser.Consequently, this method was a kind of good means for clinical examination.Read More
