Title: A comparison of effects of propofol, etomidate or midazolam on circulation system of elderly patients during induction and intubation of general anesthesia
Abstract: Objective To compare the effects of the propofol, etomidate or midazolam on circulation system of elderly patients during induction and intubation of general anesthesia. Methods Ninety general anesthesia patients(over 65Y,ASAⅠ~Ⅲ) were randomly divided into group A(propofol,n=30),group B(etomidate,n=30) and group C(midazolam,n=30).Patients received atracurium 0.6mg/kg,fentanyl 3μg/kg,propofol 2mg/kg in group A or etomidate 0.3mg/kg in group B or midazolam 0.3mg/kg in group C for induction, and intubated at 5min after induction. The vital signs(BP,HR,SpO_2) during induction and intubation, complication or stress of tracheal intubation were recorded. Results After induction, the BP and HR decreased in all groups and the lowest at 5min.It significantly decreased in group A and C(P0.05).The BP and HR were ascended in all groups after intubating,it was significantly different with that of 5min after induction in group A and C(P0.05).It was no significantly different between perinduction and postintubation. Conclusion The etomidate is safer than propofol and midazolam for elderly patients in induction and intubation of general anesthesia.
