Title: The Extended Meaning Rules and Its Influence in the "Six Categories of Chinese Characters
Abstract: About the extended meaning rules, most of the scholars canonize Shuowen - jiezi Zhu, which was authored by Duan Yucai, a famous scholar who had lived in the Qing Dynasty. They also concluded many kinds of rules from it. This article finds out many related examples for those rules in order to show that the Six Categories of Chinese Characters which was written by Dai Tong in Yuan Dynasty had described those extended meaning rules. It is demonstrated that the Six Categories of Chinese Characters impressed on later generations significant influences in the extended meaning rules.
