Title: The Mid-Autumn Emotion of the Tang and Song Poets
Abstract: The season and holiday was one of the most important topics of Chinese ancient poems. In the Tang Dynasty, the Mid-Autumn Day was not so eminent as a festival; however, there were many poems with the title August 15th, intonating the moon or nostalgia, demonstrating a kind of natural and canty beauty. The Mid-Autumn Day became very popular in the Song Dynasty. However, the theme and style of these poems were quite different from that of the Tang Dynasty, which usually expressed the author's sense or philosophy of life and demonstrated a kind of weighty and calmative beauty. The different emotion between the Tang and Song poets and their works had much relation with the difference of the age and the great diversity of the poets' thought and cultural character.
