Title: Study on effect of temperature on biological activated carbon process
Abstract: Comparing studies on treatment of high-temperature,normal-temperature and low-temperature micropolluted water by biological activitated carbon(BAC) was taken on the basis of a pilot-scale experiment. The results demonstrated that BAC process was able to efficiently remove CODMn(51.66%,47.74% and 24.15%),UV254(60.6%,49.99%,17.86%) as well as TOC(55.17%,24.14%,22.86%),respectively.It was also suggested that BAC was more effective for treating high-temperature water than for normal-temperature or low-temperature water.Meanwhile, bacteria broken from BAC could be effectively killed, even at a relative low chlorine dosage, thus, excessive chlorine for disinfection is not needed. This paper provides an economical method for ensuring the safety of drinking water by using BAC process in water treatment.
