Title: Accumulation Conditions For Shale Gas and It′s Future Exploration of Silurian in the Central-Upper Yangtze Region
Abstract: The comparison of shale gas accumulation in U.S.A.and China reveals:(1) organic geochemistry of shale(thickness, type of organic matter,TOC,Ro),(2) reservoir conditions(mineral composition, porosity and permeability and fracture),(3) preservation conditions including burial depth, temperature and pressure.Among them the first two factors for shale gas accumulation are main conditions.Favorable shale gas reservoirs develops based on indexes: TOC≥0.5%,Ro0.4%,shale layer thickness ≥9 m,fragile mineral(quartz) content ≥50%.Based on the above factors, favorable areas of Silurian shale gas in the Central-Upper Yangtze region mainly include enriched zone in the north east of Sichuan, eastern Sichuan, western Hubei-eastern Chongqing and western Hubei and Hunan.
