Title: A study of China inbound tourists′ selection patterns
Abstract: Based on the results from a thorough investigation into tourism market and seletive examination data collected by China National Tourism Administration,inbound tourists′ selection patterns of tourism resources,products, routes, cities, transportation and accommodation are discussed.In the light of the fundamentals of tourism geography and tourism marketing,psychological analysis and statistics,following conclusions can be drawn:Inbound tourists select tourism resources and products with discrepancy. On one hand, they are interested in ancient Chinese culture and fascinated by historical relics and sites.On the other hand,they are amazed by graceful and varied natural resources and favor of beautiful hills and water.Their selection on traveling routes is affected by the images propagated by destinations. Traditional golden triangle routes such as Beijing—Shanghai—Guangzhou,Beijing—Shanghai—Shenzhen, Beijing—Xi′an—Shanghai,Beijing—Guilin—Shanghai,constitute a principal part of the inbound traveling flow.Inbound tourists prefer large cities, like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou,and cities with special features,such as Xi′an,Guilin and Kunming.Transportation is selected according to its convenience and comfort.Tourists pay much attention to its safety, comfort and sanitation while choosing accommodation.
