Title: Colour reaction of cobalt with 1-hydroxyl-2-(5-nitro-2-pyridylazo)-8-aminonaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid
Abstract: The optimum condition for the colour reaction of cobalt with the new reagent 1-hydroxyl-2-(5-nitro-2-pyridylazo)-8-aminonaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid (5-NO 2-PAH) is studied. The experimental results show that, in the pH range of 8.4~10.0, cobalt can react with 5 NO 2 PAH to form a stable complex exhibiting a maximum absorptivity at 690 nm . The apparent molar absorptive is 6.36×10 4 L/(mol·cm). Beer′s law is obeyed in the range of 0~7 μg/mL cobalt. The method has been applied to the determination of cobalt in samples with satisfactory results.
