Abstract:Objective To analyze the correlation between retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL)thickness and dioptre or axial length in children with normal and different diopters.Methods 59 children at the age of 4-15 ...Objective To analyze the correlation between retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL)thickness and dioptre or axial length in children with normal and different diopters.Methods 59 children at the age of 4-15 year-old were divided into two groups of myopic(61 eyes)and emmetropic(22 eyes)as control.RTVue-FD-OCT was used to measure the average thickness at eight different quadrants of RNFL(TU,ST,SN,NU,NL,IN,IT,TL),the RNFL thickness distribution features and its correlation with diopter and axial length was analyzed.Results The average thickness of RNFL was different significantly between myopic and emmetropic group(F=22.860,P=0.000).Further statistic analysis showed the significant differences(P0.05)among 6 quadrants except TU and TL.There is a negative correlation between the thickness of RNFL and diopter or axial length(R=-0.787,-0.798,P0.05).Conclusion The average thickness of RNFL becomes thinner in children when the dioptric power increases and the ocular axial length is longer,especially in the upper and lower area.Read More
