Abstract: As the founder of the Qian jia school in the Qing dynasty, GU Yan-wu had an extensive knowledge of the classics, gathered different schools of strong points, profoundly learned the classics meaning, and gained considerable achievementd in the realm of Yi-ology. By making good use of his strong points in textual research of literature, he systematically probed into the image-number Yi-ology of the Han dynasty and the theory of River Map Luo Chart of the Song Yi, as well as the Text, Commentaries and ancient phonology of the Zhouyi. GU set forth some enlightening academic views and expressed his emphasis on practice, reflecting his inclination of taking both philosophical connotations and practical use into account, a quality charactering the Yi zhuan (the Commentaries of the Zhouyi) in the pre-Qin period. So, GU's achievements in Yi-ology should be well adequately valued when studying the history of Yi-ology.
