Title: Therapeutic effects of domestic rhIL-11 on thrombocytopenia induced by chemotherapy
Abstract: AIM: To evaluate the effect of domestic rhIL 11 on thrombocytopenia induced by chemotherapy. METHODS: Forty five patients with solid tumor were divided into group AB or BA by self control cross over test. At 24 h after chemotherapy, rhIL 11 was given 25 μg·kg -1 ·d -1 through subcutaneous injection from d 0 to d 14 in cycle A(1 chemotherapy cycle=28 days). In cycle B, the patients received chemotherapy alone without rhIL 11. Blood routine examination was taken every other day from the start of chemotheropy. The changes of peripheral platelet counts were observed. RESULTS: The lowest PLT is (118± s 37)×10 9·L -1 in cycle A, which is higher than (79±28)×10 9·L -1 in cycle B. There was a difference between the trial and control groups, P 0.05. Peripheral platelet counts increased rapidly after d 8 in cycle A, but in cycle B, that increased slowly after d 14 and was lower than that in cycle A all the time. CONCLUSION: rhIL 11 plays an important role in accelerating the recovery of thrombocytopenia induced by chemotherapy. The patients are well tolerated.
