Title: Relationship between Color and Fermentation Performance of Tea Buds
Abstract: In order to explore the relationship between the color and the fermentation performance of tea buds, the study conducted the buds color surveys in spring-summer and chloroform fermentation tests, with superior individuals of seedling progeny of 3 tea trees varieties, such as Yunan Menghai daye, Anhui Qimen and Anhua Yuntaishan. The results showed that 28 plants ranked the I level of fermenting property, of which 14 grew yellow-green buds, amount to 50 percent, much higher than that of light purple(35.71%), purple( 14.29%) or green( 0.00%). In the 28 single plants, Anhua Yuntaishan were 22, taking up 78.57 percent, much higher than that of Anhua Yuntaishan(17.86%) or Yunan Menghai daye(3.57%). Aan it could be concluded that high-quality single plants with yellow-green buds in summer have high choice potential to breed superior black tea variety.
