Title: KTP laser combined with silicone tube for treatment of stenosis and obliteration of lacrimal punctum
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of KTP laser combined with silicone tube for treatment of punctual stenosis and obliteration of lacrimal punctum.Methods Totally 70 patients(76 eyes)of punctual stenosis and obliteration with epiphora were treated by punctum dilation followed by laser therapy and silicone tube insertion into the lacrimal puncture.The tubes were kept for one month and then removed,and all the cases were followed up for 2-3 months.Results There were no complications during or after operation.The patients were followed up for 3-4 months.Fifty-seven patients(58 eyes)were cured,8 patients(10 eyes)were improved,and 5 patients(8 eyes)failed to have any effects.Conclusion KTP laser combined with silicone tube is a safe,effective treatment for the punctual stenosis and obliteration;it is easy to perform,economical,and with high success rate.(Shanghai Med J,2010,33:761-763)
