Abstract:Effects of cadmium stress on physiological and biochemical traits of maize were studied with a pot experiment in the present study.The experiment results showed that lipid peroxidation was aggravated ...Effects of cadmium stress on physiological and biochemical traits of maize were studied with a pot experiment in the present study.The experiment results showed that lipid peroxidation was aggravated and membrane permeability was enhanced.In regard to whole grow period,soluble sugar content showed a increasing trend during jointing stage,decreasing trend in flowering stage and then an increasing trend,too,in wax stage under cadmium stress(exception of CH).Soluble protein content exhibited a 1% significant level in contrast with the control.Proline content always increased under cadmium stresses at dosages of low,moderate,high concentrations.Activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD) increased with the concentration of cadmium enhancement.However,catalase(CAT) activity was contrary and peroxidase(POD) activity was exhibited irregulary.Read More
