Title: EFFECT OF DIETARY VITAMIN E ON THE PO, Ua AND UL ACTIVITIES OF CHINESE MITTEN-HANDED CRAB, ERIOCHEIR SINENSIS
Abstract: The studies was conducted to determine the effects of non-specific immunity on the Chi- nese mitten-handed crabs Eriocheir sinensis (initial mean weight of 37.52±2.29g) fed with diets con- taining various levels of vitamin E (0, 100, 200, 400, 600mg/kg diet respectively) in a 60d feeding trial, during which the activities of phenoloxidase (PO) antibacterial performance (Ua), and lysozyme (UL) were measured. The results indicated that the effects of dietary VE on the activities of PO, Ua, and UL in the tissues and organ of E. sinensis were significantly different (P0.05 or P0.01). The activities of PO, Ua, and UL in the serum, muscle, and hepatopancrea of E. sinensis were significantly enhanced with VE en- richment from 200—400mg/kg diet (P0.05 or P0.01). In conclusion, after fed with the VE-enriched di- ets, the crabs’non-specific immunity increased.
