Title: SUBSIDENCE ANALYSIS AND ITS APPLICATION TO BASINS
Abstract: Subsidence is the most basic condition to control sedimentation and basin formation. The structure saddle between the depressions of Xihu and Jilong is a very important area in the development of the period of tertiary in the Doughal Basin. The subsidence history of this area is analysed with the principle of basin modelling and the first using of the concept of specific starved subsidence. A new concept of relative subsidence is advanced in this paper also, though it cannot be quantitated in the subsidence analysis in the researched area. It shows that the subsidence of the area is of unbalance in both geography and basin stages. The values of specific starved subsidence have close relationship to the developed stageS of the basin.
