Abstract:Compilation of Confucian Classics by Gui Wencan,a scholar of late Qing Dynasty,is a book focusing on the history of Confucian Classics of great importance in Qing Dynasty,which has been too obscure to...Compilation of Confucian Classics by Gui Wencan,a scholar of late Qing Dynasty,is a book focusing on the history of Confucian Classics of great importance in Qing Dynasty,which has been too obscure to be draw attention on its value of history and academics.This paper is composed of three parts,which are Gui and his Book,Gathering and Recording,Han and Song School.As a history book of learning case style,it contained the activity of teaching and learning within four periods of Qing Dynasty,including Qianlong,Jiaqing,Daoguang and Xianfeng,which is more specific and rich in the content than Record of Inheritance of Han School.This book provided a complete picture of the extension and exchange of the sinology in late Qing Dynasty,which not only embodied the condition of the academics of that time but the spirit of Han School that Gui really held as well.Although some opinions of the book were deficient to a certain degree,it reflected Gui's concern on the humanities which helped to further understand the reality of sinology studies in late Qing Dynasty.Read More
