Abstract: To assess the treatment results of one visit root canal therapy for chronic periapical inflammation using three kinds of permanent sealing paste and gutta-percha at 7 days and 6 months. Methods: A total of 246 teeth with chronic periapical inflammation were randomly divided into three groups. Group A using ZOE ( Zinc Oxide-euge-nol) , group B using ZOE + iodoform and group C using CORTISOMOL. Immediate root canal filling was taken in all teeth. Treatment results were evaluated clinically and radiographically 7 days and 6 months after ward. Results: The differences among three groups were statistically significant 7 days after treat ment(P0. 05). The curative effect of group C was the best with minimum irritation among three groups. Group A showed maximum reaction. By statistics, it was no difference for the overall healing rates among groups after 6 months (P 0. 05). Conclusion:The short-term curative effects of one visit root canal therapy using CORTISOMOL sealing paste is better than that using other two kinds of sealing paste within 7 days.
