Title: On the Aim and Its Academic Significance of YANG Jian's Yi-ology by His Ji Yi
Abstract: YANG Jian (1141-1226),a philosopher in the Southern Song dynasty, regards Yi as Ji (lit.,self),and explains it from the concepts of Wo (lit.,myself),Yi (lit.,one),heart, and so on. The innate character of Ji is heart/mind,namely,Ji Yi is the Yi of heart/mind,Yi is that of heart/mind and the Dao of Yi is also that of the Yi of heart/mind. When understanding oneself thoroughly and being thoroughly aware of heart/mind,one could experience in-depth the Dao of Yi. YANG Jian takes Yi-ology and Confucian classics studies into his learning of heart/mind completely, through the process of which he developed Yi-ology and Confucian classics studies from the standpoint of the mind/heartology. It is an indispensable link in the progress of Yi-ology and Confucianism.
