Title: Influence of propofol on oxidation level in cerebral ischemia reperfusion rats in vivo
Abstract: Objective To study influences of propofol on serum and brain tissue oxidation level in cerebral ischemia reperfusion rats in vivo. Methods The cerebral ischemia reperfusion rats models were made using thread lock on middle cerebral artery method and then randomly divided into three groups: sham operation group, cerebral ischemia reperfusion model group and propofol treatment group(100mg/kg).After 24 hours of ischemia reperfusion, the activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-px) and the contents of malondialdehyde(MDA),nitricoxide(NO) in serum and in brain tissue homogenates were detected. Results Compared with the model group, propofol significantly increased the activities of SOD and GSH-px and decreased the contents of MDA and NO in serum and brain tissue homogenates of cerebral ischemia reperfusion rats(P0.05,P0.01).Conclusion Propofol could protect the brain from cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury through its activities of improving the antioxidant capability and decreasing lipid peroxidation and NO formation.
