Title: Flow Control and Inclusion Removal in Continuous Casting Tundish with Bottom Gas Blowing
Abstract: Flow control and inclusion removal in continuous casting tundish with bottom blowing has been studied in detail with water model, prototype of which is the one in Meishan Iron and Steel Cooperation.Air is blown into the tundish at the bottom with newly designed air-supply equipment, with which tiny, steady and uniformly distributed bubbles can be produced. Results show that, the gas baffle with tiny bubbles can form in tundish, which destroy the laminar-like flow and eliminate the short circuit flow, hence the average residence time has been prolonged and volume fraction of dead zone has been reduced;among the three blowing positions, best results can be obtained with blowing at position B2;flow control with blowing technology can be achieved with a relative small amount of flow rate;bottom blowing in tundish is in favor of inclusion removal.
