Abstract:Vegetation deterioration,topsoil stripping,waste residue accumulation,numerous abandoned mines,soil erosion and widespread contamination,caused by gold mining in Tulongshan of northwest Jiangxi,had re...Vegetation deterioration,topsoil stripping,waste residue accumulation,numerous abandoned mines,soil erosion and widespread contamination,caused by gold mining in Tulongshan of northwest Jiangxi,had resulted in the migration and diffusion of the pollutions in gold mining wasteland.The ecological restoration of wasteland was essential when gold mines were closed down.Combination contamination of cyanide and heavy metals(arsenic and cadmium),as well as lack of nutrient substance(nitrogen,phosphorus,potassium)for plant growing were the major problems of gold mining wasteland in Tulongshan.Vegetation reconstruction to avoid the erosion of the tailings was one of two main measures for ecological restoration.The tolerant plants were selected for revegetation according to the limited factors of the tailings.Through the observation of three years,pennisetum sinese roxb and miscanthus floridulus were screened out as the primary plants of revegetation in the gold mining wasteland.Read More
