Title: Clinical study on bronchial artery embolization with PVA in massive hemoptysis
Abstract: Objective To study bronchial embolization with PVA in the massive hemoptysis. Methods 32 patients with acute massive hemoptysis(20 males and 12 females) were performed selective bronchial arteries angiogaphy and superselective bronchial arteries embolization with PVA and Gelfoam. Results Massive hemoptysis in 32 patients was completely controlled. Immediate control of hemoptysis was achieved in 28 patients, marked reduce in bleeding was seen in 4 patients. The effective rate was 100%. All patients had been followed for one year. Recurrence occurred in two patients. None of severe adverse reaction was occurred. Conclusion Superseletive bronchial artery embolization with PVA is an effective and safe procedure for controlling massive hemoptysis.
