Title: Correlation of carotid artery atherosclerosis with renal artery stenosis assessed by ultrasound
Abstract: Objective To study the correlation of carotid artery atherosclerosis with renal artery stenosis assessed by ultrasound in patients undergoing routine cardiac catheterization. Methods Analyse the ultrasonographic features of carotid artery atherosclerosis, angiographic features of renal artery stenosis and coronary artery lesions in patients undergoing routine cardiac catheterization, then assess the correlation between them by χ 2 test. Results Among the patients suffering from carotid artery atherosclerosis, the prevalence of renal artery stenosis was higher than those without carotid artery atherosclerosis, moreover, the severity of renal artery stenosis was correlated closely with the extent of carotid artery atherosclerosis. Conclusions Carotid artery atherosclerosisis is correlated closely with renal artery stenosis.
