Abstract:Objective To understand the role of cell mediated immunity in HCV infection.Methods Twenty-seven patients with chronic hepatitis C and fifteen normal health subjects were studied for their peripheral ...Objective To understand the role of cell mediated immunity in HCV infection.Methods Twenty-seven patients with chronic hepatitis C and fifteen normal health subjects were studied for their peripheral blood lymphomononuclear cell(PBMC)proliferative responses to hepatitis C virus structural and nonstructural antigens C22(core),C33(NS3),NS5 by the method of MTT.Results PBMC from chronic hepatits C patients sigenificantly proliferated in vitro in response to the HCV antigen C22,C33 by comparison with that of normal subjects,P0.01. But there was no sigenificant proliferative response to NS5 Ag.This showing that it is true that there are cellular immune to HCV antigens in peripheral blood in patients with chronic Hepatitis C.and core Ag is the most immunogentic HCV Ag.We also found that this cellular immune response did not correlate with humoral immune responses,and have no significant increase in patients with HCV RNA in peripheral blood cell turning to negative. Conclusions Sdudies showed that there were the cellular and humoral immune responses to HCV-related antigen. Disease status did not correlate with the peripheral lymphocyte immune response.Read More
