Title: Numerical Calculation of the Interior Ballistic Performances of the 7-Perforation Gun Propellant with Variable Burning Rate
Abstract: An interior ballistic model of the 7-perforation gun propellant with variable burning rate was established based on the classical interior ballistic theory.Under the filling condition ofΦ30mm gun,the numerical calculation of interior ballistic performances for the standard 7-perforation gun propellant and the 7-perforation gun propellant with variable burning rate with different force capacity and different burning rate ratio of internal and external layer were carried out using a calculation program written by C language. The results show that the progressive combustion of the 7-perforation gun propellant with variable burning rate is superior to the standard 7-perforation gun propellant. In the case of small chamber pressure change, the muzzle velocity is increased obviously by about 5%.The chamber pressure can be controlled effectively and the muzzle velocity can be enhanced by adjusting the force capacity of internal and external layer of the 7-perforation gun propellant with variable burning rate. With increasing the burning rate ratio of internal and external layer, the maximum chamber pressure and muzzle velocity decrease gradually, meanwhile the combustion division point and end point shift backwards.Taking the burning rate ratio of internal and external layer of the 7-perforation gun propellant with variable burning rate of about 2is advisable.
