Title: Reading Byron' s Don Juan from the Perspective of Queer Theory
Abstract: Queer theory advocates eliminating the traditional binary oppositions of the heterosexual/homosexual, the male/ female and the so-called masculine/feminine, and emphasizes the uncertainty of biological sex and social gender in a certain context, the vague boundary between man and woman, cross-dressing, and change of sex. These basic queer principles can be found expression in Don Juan' s indication of the destruction of the traditional definitions of sex, gender and sexuality, and the poet' s politics of cross-dressing .
