Abstract: Objective:To investigate the diagnostic value of CT examination and the reasons of misdiagnosis of primary mediastinal tumors by CT as well as to discuss the keys in avoiding misdiagnosis.Methods:58 cases of primary mediastinal tumors was retrospectively reviewed.Chest CT scans were performed in all cases.The CT manifestations of all cases were analysed.The comparative analysis between CT results of this guoup and the X-ray results as well as pathologic results of 255 cases with primary mediastinal tumors were made.Results:①The CT diagnostic accuracy rate was higher than that of X-ray plain film(Ρ0.005),CT missed dragnosis in no case;②The major reasons of misdiagnosis of primary mediastinal tumors by CT were the docfor's poor recognifion for rare mediastinal tumors and mediastinal cysts and rupture of teratoma into pleural cavity,pericardium and bronchis.Conclusion:CT examination is superior to plain film in discovery focus,mass location classification, and differential diagnosis of primary mediastinal tumors,it shall be performed as conventionall method.
