Title: Study on Performances of Different Compression Algorithms
Abstract: The establishment of a multimedia session in mobile communication network generally takes several ten seconds. Such long delay is not favorable for Quality of Service. The improvement of transmitting delay is always investigated. The reduction of signaling message size is evidently a good solution. In this paper, the compression algorithms such as LZ77, LZW and Deflate are used to study the SIP compression in IP multimedia system. Simulation result shows that: Deflate is the best, its compression rate is even up to 30% without using dictionary and up to 50% with using dictionary; LZW is better, and LZ77 the worst.
