Title: Study on the Effect of Estrogen on the Glucolipide in Ovariectomized SD Rats
Abstract: Objective To investigate the effects of estrogen on the glucolipide metabolism in ovariectomized SD rats. Methods Ninety SPF female SD rats,four-month-old,were randomly divided into four groups:normal control group, sham operation group, ovariectomized control group and treatment group. The treatment group were given intragastric administration of estradiol valerate, once per day,the other three groups were given the intragastric administration of physiological saline, once per day.Fourteen weeks after the treatment, animals′ blood samples were taken from aorta to assess the levels of estradiol(E2),fasting blood glucose(FBG),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),total cholesterol(TC) and triglyeride(TG).Results Fourteen weeks after intragastric administration, serum E2 level in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the ovariectomized control group, normal control group and sham-operation group(P0.05).Serum E2 level in the ovariectomized control group was significantly lower than that in normal control group and sham-operation group(P0.05);HDL-C level in treatment group was significantly higher than that in ovariectomized control group(P0.05),while LDL-C level was significantly lower than that in ovariectomized control group(P0.05),there was no statistically significant differences in the above-mentioned indicators when compare the treatment group with normal control group and sham-operation group(P0.05);in ovariectomized control group,HDL-C level was significantly lower than that in normal control group and sham-operation group without statistically significant differences(P0.05),while LDL-C level was higher than that in normal control group and sham-operation group without statistically significant differences(P0.05);there was no statistically significant differences between each group in TG,TC and FBG(P0.05).Conclusion Estrogen valerate by intragastric administration might improve the blood lipids, elevate high density lipoprotein and reduce low density lipoprotein level.
