Title: On the Differences and Similarities between Practical Writing and Literary Writing
Abstract: Both practical writing and literary writing intend to express the activities of human's social work,social life,emotion and idealism by means of word media.However,humans have not obtained a suitable awareness of the difference between them——trying to avoid such topic or confusing them as the same so as to distinguish them wrongly;some consider them as different in function,others in methods.As a matter of fact,the fundamental difference between them lies in the nature.To be more specific,practical writing is intent to convince,while on the other hand literary writing managing to move in emotion;the subject of practical writing is administrative units,while that of literary writing is individual person.Practical writing applies to Abstract thinking,while the literary writing imaginative thinking.Practical writing stresses on time-efficiency,while literary writing does not.Practical writing adopts inactive rhetorical devices,while literary writing active ones.Practical writing conveys personal idea in a distinctive way,while the latter in an implicative way.Practical writing calls for the requirement of elements and styles,while literary writing does not.Practical writing is created for practical value,while literary writing for entertainment.As a matter of fact,similarities do exist between the two kinds of writing,especially in style,techniques and thinking models.
