Title: Relationship between recurrence of bladder cancer and distal ureteric resection methods in nephroureterectomy for upper urinary tract tumor
Abstract: 【Objective】 To investigate the relationship between distal ureterectomy and recurrence of bladder cancer because of renal-ureteric total resection for upper urinary tract tumor.【Methods】 81 patients were performed renal-ureteric total resection for upper urinary tract epithelial carcinoma from September 2003 to December 2009.Transitional cell carcinoma of the renal pelvis and ureter was 39 and 42 cases, respectively. The methods of the distal ureterectomy included pre-transurethral resection of the intramural ureter before nephroureterectomy, intravesical and outside of the bladder were 38,20 and 23 cases, respectively.Compared the relation between the three approaches and recurrence of bladder cancer.【Results】 The patients were followed up for 6 to 64 months with a mean of 33 months, the recurrence rate of the bladder cancer of three methods were 18.4%,15.0% and 26.1% respectively. The ways of the distal ureterectomy about recurrence of bladder cancer was no significant difference(P 0.05),with cell grade and TNM stage was significant difference(P 0.05).【Conclusions】 Recurrence of bladder cancer and had no association with distal ureterectomy of mode for upper urinary tract epithelial carcinoma, and has association with cell grade and TNM stage.
