Abstract:Objective:To investigate the development of third molar embryo of ten years old teenagers through panoramic radiographs in Chengdu.Method:Randomly selected 426 panoramic radiographs between June 2009 ...Objective:To investigate the development of third molar embryo of ten years old teenagers through panoramic radiographs in Chengdu.Method:Randomly selected 426 panoramic radiographs between June 2009 and 2010 July from the database of West China Stomatology Hospital of Sichuan University,and then performed a cross-sectional study about the third molar development.All the data were statistically analysed.Result:The rate we cannot find the tooth germ or mineral was 32.57 % by teeth.The development of the third molar appeared earlier in girls than in boys,and earlier in the mandible than in the maxillary.There was no significant difference between the left and right side.Mesiodistal croun width of mandibular the third molar was(11.42±0.86)mm.The length of the mandibular the third molar through the long axis was(8.44±1.30)mm.There were no significant diferences in Mesiodistal croun width and the length between male and female and between the left and right side.The angle between the long axis of the third molar and the second molar was(30.79±13.82) degrees.There were significant diferences in the angle between the left and the right side,as the angle 28.34 degrees in left and 33.29 degrees in right.Conclusion:Most of the third molar of the ten years old teenagers were at the crown mineralizing stage.The angle between the long axis of the third molar and the second molar in right side was larger than that in the left.Read More
