Title: DEVELOPMENT AND COMMERCIAL APPLICATION OF OCT-M PROCESS FOR FCC NAPHTHA DEEP HYDRODESULFURIZATION
Abstract: The properties of conventional FCC naphtha and MIP(maximizing isomers process)naphtha, esp.the distributions of sulfur and olefins, were compared.OCT-M process was developed by FRIPP for naphtha selective hydrodesulfurization. It was applied to these two kinds of naphtha for reducing sulfur content to less than 50 μg/g.The properties of treated FCC naphtha and treated MIP naphtha were compared, and the results indicated that the octane loss of MIP naphtha was less than that of FCC naphtha.Commercial trial data showed that in two different operation modes, the sulfur contents of MIP naphtha could be reduced from 417 μg/g to 24 μg/g(with a RON loss of 1.8 units)and from 442 μg/g to 53 μg/g(with a RON loss of 0.7 units),respectively.OCT-M process is a flexible and economic route to produce clean gasoline with sulfur content less than 50 μg/g.
