Abstract: Han-Wei Luoyang city was once the capital of the Eastern Han, Wei, Western Jin and the Northern Wei. As one of the most important metropolises, it was also the eastern starting point of the Silk Road in this period. For its significance in politics, military, social and economic development, cultural exchange and commerce, the city represented Chinese civilization and cultural identity, especially the development of capital shape and layout and the transformation of city function from the Eastern Han to the Northern Wei. It also influenced capitals of the following dynasties and many Asian states.
