Abstract: Objective To understand the method of surgical treatment for parotid benign tumor and its postoperative complications,so as to improve the surgical procedure, and improve therapeutic effectiveness. Methods The clinical data of 60 patients with parotid benign tumor in our department from January 2008 to December 2012 were analyzed retrospectively. The surgical effect and postoperative complications were analyzed. Results No case of permanent facial paralysis was found among 60 patients, but there was possibility of temporary facial paralysis. There were differences in the number of paralysis surface among different surgical methods.A small number of patients had salivary fistula. Conclusions The surgical effects of different operation for the treatment of parotid benign tumor are different.Shallow lobectomy has good surgical effect, but more complications; partial resection has fewer complications, but its indications are strict;full gills resection has the highest incidence of complications.Surgery should select the appropriate surgical approach based on the position of the parotid tumors,so as to minimize the risk of postoperative complications as far as possible.
