The simplified McGill pain scale (SF-MPQ) had been used to evaluate the pain before and after treatment. Results Before therapy there were no significant difference in the six targets (numbers of selected descriptors, scores of sensory, emotion and total of pain rating index(PRI),visual analogue scale (VAS)and present pain intensity (PPI) included in SF-MPQ. Fellow up 3 months, the differences between the two groups were significant (P0.05). None of the treatment group left neuralgia. Otherwise 5 patients of control group had varying degrees of neuralgia. Conclusion Mecobalamine has significantly effect on herpes zoster in trigeminal nerve distribution area.
