Title: Morphological and immunohistochemical comparison between B-cell lymphoma with bone marrow involvement and benign lymphoid nodule in bone marrow
Abstract: Objective To study the morphological characteristics, immunoprofiles and differential diagnosis between B-cell lymphoma with bone marrow involvement and benign lymphoid nodule in bone marrow. Methods Morphological and immunohistochemical observation were used to compare 7 cases of B-cell lymphoma with bone marrow involvement and 4 cases of benign lymphoid nodule in bone marrow. Results B-cell lymphoma with bone marrow involvement might mimic benign lymphoid nodule in bone marrow in hematoxylin-eosin-stained sections, but a tendency to central localization with a clearly defined border margin consisting of a mixture of B and T lymphocytes was more seen in benign lymphoid nodule in bone marrow. The B-cell marker such as CD20 was positive diffusively in B-cell lymphoma with bone marrow involvement. Conclusions Morphologically,B-cell lymphoma with bone marrow involvement is very similar to benign lymphoid nodule in bone marrow.A combined diagnostic procedure identifying several distinctive features,in particular hietotopogrophy and immunohistochemistry, provides a most promising way of discriminating of reactive from neoplastic lymphoid nodules in bone marrow.
