The beetle aestivates and hibernates as an adult in soil. In this paper, post-diapause adults with different diapause duration were reared under controlled conditions, and few individuls could re-enter diapause after a period of egg-laying. We also found that non-diapause adults could be induced to enter diapause after a period of egg-laying under natural condition. The results showed that temperature was the major inducing factor in the second diapause and diapause induction of non-diapause adults after a period of egg-laying. Finally, biological importance of the second diapause and diapause induction of non-diapause adults in cabbage beetle is also discussed in this paper.Read More
