Title: Influence of Different pH on Spore Germination and Hyphal Growth of Aschersonia aleyrodis
Abstract: pH in environment is one of the important factors affecting the physiological and ecological processes of entomopathogenic fungi.Influence of nine pH levels on spore germination and hyphal growth of entomopathogenic fungus,Aschersonia aleyrodis, were investigated on Czapek medium in the experiment. Results indicated that sig- nificant difference in spore germination was observed among different pH.Spore germination rate reached 100% at pH6 in 24 hours after inoculation and gradually decreased with the increasing in other pH values.Seven days after incubation, hyphal growth was the fastest and dry weight of mycelia was 1.14 grams at pH7 and 0.92 grams at pH8.Furthermore,it was demonstrated that the optimal pH for spore germination and hyphal growth was 6 and 7, respectively.
